Environmental and Health Protection Inspector

Jönköping Municipality is a large employer with hundreds of different job roles. We are growing in line with the municipality's development, with more residents, more housing, and a larger range of services. We are always on the lookout for new talent - employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by the common drive to create a better municipality to visit, live, work, and reside in.

Description

The Environmental and Health Protection Office develops society and has a broad mandate including strategic planning, permits, and supervision.

We dare to think outside the box and offer a workplace with creative and engaging conversations, a fast pace, and solution-focused working methods. The Environmental and Health Protection Administration is a local supervisory authority for activities covered by the Environmental Code, the Food Act, and other laws. About 50 employees work at the Environmental and Health Protection Administration, divided into four units: environmental protection, health protection, food, and administration. There are good development opportunities within the office and other administrations.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector to handle cases related to health protection.

The position is a fixed-term employment for 1 year, partly due to an upcoming parental leave.

Your work areas will largely concern municipal waste issues for which the Health Protection Unit is responsible, as well as supervision regarding hygienic activities. This involves handling incoming cases such as various types of applications and complaints, as well as planning and conducting inspections.

Your other tasks may occur within the entire area of the health protection unit. This includes, among other things, assessment and supervision of small sewage systems, supervision of tanning salons, and supervision of public premises. Noise from music and traffic are also areas the unit works with.

Qualifications

A degree from a university or college in environmental and health protection or another equivalent education is required. Being able to express oneself well in spoken and written Swedish is also a requirement.

For this position, experience with waste legislation and waste management, experience in regulatory work, experience in supervision, and education in environmental law and/or administrative law are advantageous. We use EDP Vision as our case management system; experience with this system is a plus.

In the role of authority, you need to have the ability to make objective and factual assessments, set clear requirements, and make decisions. The authority role also requires a pronounced sense of integrity. You need to have good social skills that contribute to creating mutual trust and respect in meetings with business operators, colleagues, and citizens. It is important that you enjoy working both independently and in a team. You need to be service-oriented, flexible, and have good planning and prioritization skills. The work requires a structured approach and good judgment.

We place great importance on your personal qualities.

We offer you

  • Wellness allowance.
  • Some opportunity to work remotely.
  • Flexible hours and reduced working hours during the summer (June, July, and August).

Jönköping Municipality strives to offer an attractive workplace that is free from discrimination and provides equal opportunities for all.

In preparation for the recruitment process, we have made decisions regarding recruitment channels and marketing. We kindly but firmly decline all calls regarding advertising and recruitment assistance.
